  1. David, you must be from Melbourne to not know who Jarryd Hayne is. He played for the Parramatta Eels, their best player, and we miss him. However this was his dream to give NFL a go and he’s done it!
Good on him, will look forward to following his career.

  2. Thrilled Jarryd Hayne made the 53 man roster but Channel Seven focusing so heavily on the 49ers games is a huge mistake. The 49ers are in a rebuilding phase and will struggle to win 2 games this season. Those who aren’t familiar with the NFL are in for a massive shock when they realise Hayne will be lucky to be on the field for more than 8-10 mins per game – that’s if he even gets on the field. If teams use the same ploy the Broncos and deliberately kick the ball out of bounds to nullify Hayne’s kick returns then Aussie NFL newbies are going to be bored silly.

    1. I have no idea who he is, but the publicity he’s been getting is nuts. Good luck to him, but don’t understand why it warrants so many column inches. Anyway I’ve run it for NFL fans who may have been looking for the info.

  3. Am I right in saying that ESPN are covering these three games on Mondays as well? I’m aware they definitely do the last game but what exactly is this ‘NFL Redzone’ that’s on whilst 7mate are covering the first two games on a Sunday?
And do ESPN have Tuesday morning and Friday morning also?

    1. What’s Redzone?
Monday morning on ESPN between 3am and 9am , there is 7 games early and 5 later and Redzone covers them all going from game to game , when a team enters the Redzone and chance of a touchdown they will cross , and if that happens in mutiple games they will go split screen . Any major highlight or injury they will quickly cross to it from any game .
If don’t see it live , and say for example a team has punt return for touchdown while they showing you another game they show it on delay something 30 seconds later.
And with ESPN other games they show Sunday night game (just before midday here on Monday) and Monday night games (just before midday here on Tuesday ) and they show the Thursday night game here( which is before midday Friday here)

      1. So they try to essentially cover every game at once? That sounds incredibly silly to me. I’d rather just watch one game at a time to be honest. Thanks for that though. I was curious because I’d seen quite a few comments elsewhere about how superior the ESPN coverage is. I’m not sure I agree but each to their own.

  4. Hmm…so Superbowl not on ONE now…probably old news and I forgot…
    i have always followed the Patriots…not that I understand the game..one bit…
Guess I will have to follow the 49ers now…with local boy…(very local)

  5. Thank god I have Gamepass to watch the Dallas Cowboys. We all know that there has been Aussies over there before. I think 7 Mate are going overboard and imagine as expected they go 3-13 people will not watch.

  6. You would hope that wouldn’t be locked into all those games if the Niners have a bad season but it’s obvious why Seven are showing him. It’s a good story. Have Gamepass so I can watch my crappy jets all season but hopefully this can spark some interest in the sport down here.

    1. “If the Niners have a bad season ”
It’s a given that the 49ers will finish dead last in their division ..
Love my 49ers but rather watch the more important games during the season that will matter in the end .
Apart from watching the main prime time games , the best way to watch the earlier games is on ESPN’s Redzone .
Plus with Hayne , I expect to see him only get limited time on special teams but his game time might increase once the 49ers season is finally in the toilet .
Important note , Yes Hayne made the team roster but did someone tell Channel Seven he could be cut any week …
