More filler docos in our schedules

More overseas docos go into the schedule, including some with very dubious subjects.

Pets, diets, sugar, teens in prison….TV’s attachment to filler documentaries continues with Nine adding two more to their schedule next week.

As we know with Seven’s internet cats, this trend is not exclusive to one network.

But why is there so little commissioning of Australian docos? Oh that’s right. They cost money.

  1. I remember when commercial networks used to put their cheap crappy filler shows on Fri and Sat nights. That spread to Thu nights after the digital switch-over but this year has started infecting Wednesdays.

Luckily this streaming thing that the kids are into at the moment is just a fad otherwise the commercial FTA TV networks would be in trouble…

  2. Shows on pets that run ’til 11pm on a school night? Really? So glad I live on the boundary of two local council areas and have access to two city areas’ libraries, with free DVD rentals from online catalogs bigger than Blockbuster – who is closing this weekend anyway.
