NBC has handed a straight-to-series order for a prequel to the Taken franchise, which starred Liam Neeson.

Neeson is not involved in the project.

The action series will focus on how a young Brian Mills acquires his expert skills and depicts him prior to his family, as portrayed in the films.

Variety reports the logline pays homage to the first film’s famous quote: “What I do have are a very particular set of skills, skills I have acquired over a very long career; Skills that make me a nightmare for people like you.”

Luc Besson will co-executive produce. His previous films La Femme Nikita and Transporter have also been adapted for the small screen.

  1. I’ve heard although this is a prequel it will be set in modern day which doesn’t make much sense. I hope they don’t call it ‘Taken: the series’ as movie 3 proved no point calling it Taken if no one is taken!

  2. Whoever gets cast as the young Brian better be good because the success of the movie franchise was due to how good Liam Neeson was as Brian Mills. It’s got me interested though.
