Performer / producer Rob Carlton is returning as host of the Screen Music Awards, to be held in November.

The PRA AMCOS and Australian Guild of Screen Composers event will head back to Melbourne for the first time since 2012, with live orchestra at the Melbourne Recital Centre.

Brett Cottle, CEO APRA AMCOS said, “We’re delighted to be back in Melbourne for this prestigious event and hosting these Awards at the highly acclaimed Recital Centre. The Screen Music Awards have a long and rich history of acknowledging outstanding screen composition in this country. We look forward to providing the opportunity for our members to not only recognise their peers but renew acquaintances and spark future creative endeavours to be awarded at next year’s event.”

In recent years the Screen Music Awards has evolved into a premier event on the film and music industry calendars, and remains the only Australian event to shine a spotlight on the unseen champions of music composition in film and television. The event will be hosted for the second time by actor and writer Rob Carlton and will feature music direction by Emmy Award winning composer Ashley Irwin.

Leading a live orchestra who will perform a selection of nominated compositions at the event is Emmy Award winning composer, Ashley Irwin. After his most recent collaboration with Hollywood legend Clint Eastwood on the film Jersey Boys, Ashley will return for the third time as Music Director for the 2015 Screen Music Awards.

Master of ceremonies for the event is one of Australia’s most outstanding actors, Rob Carlton. The versatile Silver Logie winning actor has had his head flushed down a toilet in The Year My Voice Broke, been thrown out of Summer Bay by Alf, was kicked off E Street by Reverend Bob and floored pundits with his portrayal of Kerry Packer in Paper Giants: The Birth of Cleo.
