After 12 years on US television, America’s Next Top Model will walk its final runway.

The 22nd cycle, currently airing in the US ad Australia, will end in December.

Creator and host Tyra Banks has tweeted, “Thinking #ANTM22 should be our last cycle. I truly believe it’s time. May your pics be forever fierce. Keep on Smizing!”

America’s Next Top Model was a successful franchise for two networks,” said CW president Mark Pedowitz, “first at UPN and then The CW, and it became not just a ratings hit, but a global pop culture phenomenon. I want to thank Tyra and Ken for all their years of success in establishing a show that was not just popular in the U.S., but all across the world.”

Indeed the show has been reproduced in 15 countries, including the long-running Australia’s Next Top Model. The US original has also included male contestants since 2013.

The CW is said to be mulling a possible retrospective special for some time in late 2016.

Season 22 is currently airing in Australia on FOX8.
