Former ABC journalist Lyndal Curtis has joined SKY News in the newly-established role of Canberra Bureau Chief.

Curtis, who departed ABC late last year, will have responsibility for daily political news, an expansion of programming and major event coverage.

Australian News Channel CEO Angelos Frangopoulos said: “The appointment of one of Australia’s most experienced political broadcast journalists to this new leadership role underscores our commitment to national affairs coverage. Lyndal will play a central role in significant programming and platform initiatives being finalised for launch in 2016.”

Lyndal said: “Political journalism is my first love and I am thrilled to be joining SKY News. Angelos has built up, over many years, a channel that has an unmatched dedication to coverage of politics and national affairs. I have long admired David and his colleagues in the Canberra Bureau for their professionalism, enthusiasm and commitment and am very much looking forward to working with them.”

SKY News Political Editor David Speers added, “Lyndal is one of the most insightful journalists in Canberra who now becomes my colleague after many years of friendly competition in the halls of the Parliament. There is no doubt her expertise will be a valuable addition to the team.”

  1. Sky has good on air talent. But they don’t hire EPs to produce programming – which is why it’s the random mess it is, and no one watches. Shame.
