Want to know how to be informative and entertaining at the same time? Look no further than Gruen, last night tackling campaigns against domestic violence with an intelligent, sometimes powerful, segment about the attitudes of teens and children. Despite moving advertisements, there was not always agreement on their effectiveness, yet applause from the audience for more work to be done within the community. You can’t manufacture this stuff, Gruen is pitch perfect.

Gruen seems even better this series, the best yet, Wil is at his peak, love it
Wednesday for me are the best night of tv but also the most hectic pvr alot of things madam Secretary to major crimes to the player which im enjoying to the good wife and the mentalist. No room for gruen have to watch tonight on abc2.
The discussion of domestic violence on Gruen last night would surely be a contender for one of the most powerful moments of TV this year.
It’s the segment the show should definitely use for awards show submissions.
Forgot about Heroes Reborn last night… 132,000 at 10.40-something – surely this and other US shows relegated to late night could do better at 8.30 on 7mate (in HD)?
Gruen is fantastic every week. Brilliant show. Its everything ‘The Verdict” is not. I know they’re different types of shows but perfect example of how to conduct a decent panel discussion show thats relevant and informative. Well done ABC, keep it up and you’ll be the only FTA channel I’ll watch!
I think I will stick with watching Gogglebox’s opinion on The Verdict vs. The Verdict.
Yes, great episode of Gruen last night. The commercial networks could never make something like that.
Watched The Ex-PM and mostly enjoyed it. Started off a little awkwardly, bit like a university comedy revue but seemed to find it’s feet later on. Will give it a few eps to properly settle in.
Nicki Wendt actually looks like she could be Kate Jenkinson’s mother (or older sister), striking resemblance. And there were probably enough broad Aussie accents to keep Screen Australia happy.
I agree about the two actresses as mother and daughter, at times I had trouble telling them apart. Overall I liked it, can see lots of potential. I loved the joke with the fridge repairman, that was lol. Only quibble was the almost sex scene, it didn’t sit well with the rest of the ep, imo.
Also watched Sammy J and Randy, hilarious in a broad silly way. Some of the little jokes were great like the Albury Wodonga road sign. It was noticeable that they are limited by Randy’s lack of a lower body in the way some scenes were shot. But overall I really enjoyed it. Who knew filling out a census could be so funny.
Oh, yeah. Enjoyed Rickets Lane too, thought it was really well written and put together. Sure, the humour was quite broad at times but the writing was really tight and they had clearly spent a lot of time honing it.
Religiously watch Wednesday night ABC, have loved Gruen in all its incarnations but last nights episode would have to be one of the best. Very entertaining yet still managed to tackle serious topics with credibility.
The Ex Pm was ok… found it a little bit bland at times.
Next week’s moments on 9/11 show what the show is capable of. I’ve seen 3 eps and am enjoying it. I see it as a show that will probably hit its peak in S2.
I love hearing intelligent people discuss things. Add humour and you can’t go wrong. Thank you ABC for Gruen.
It’s really a great show! I’m so glad it’s back on air. Could you imagine how different that nuanced and sensitive discussion about domestic violence would’ve been if it was done by ‘some of Australia’s greatest minds’ on The Verdict haha
