US network ABC is developing a TV series based on the 1997 feature My Best Friend’s Wedding.
Writer Ron Bass (Rain Man), who wrote the feature screenplay, will co-write the pilot with Jessica Amento.
The TV version will pick up where the movie left off, focussing on Julianne Potter, originally played by Julia Roberts, as she navigates her life in New York City, with gay best friend George, originally played by Rupert Everett (wasn’t that Will and Grace?)
The news follows recent remakes and adaptations in the pipeline including Fantasy Island, MacGyver, The A-Team, Xena: Warrior Woman, Training Day, The Island Of Dr. Moreau, Behind Enemy Lines, In The Live of Fire and The Notebook.

Can’t really remember many people asking what happened after the film?
Won’t work. Not without the original cast, that movie is too iconic.
Just sounds like will and grace to me.
As soon as I saw the headline I also thought ” wasn’t that Will and Grace?”. Truly, this is a perfect example that Hollywood has run out of ideas.
“Hooray!” he exclaims ironically. How about Hugh Grant to play George? He’s not on our TV screens often enough.
