Sydney-based Writer Sam de Brito, who worked in print, TV and film has died, aged 46.

Fairfax Media reports he was found at his North Bondi home this morning.

“The family and friends of the writer and journalist Sam de Brito have been devastated by his sudden death this morning,” his family said in a statement.

“Sam, 46, has revelled in parenthood and was a wonderful and devoted father to his young daughter, Anoushka.

“He will also be remembered as a loving son, brother, nephew, uncle, cousin and friend, as well as a distinguished columnist and author.

“His family asks for privacy at this time as they grieve for the loss of Sam and await the results of a coroner’s report.”

De Brito wrote the column All Men are Liars for Fairfax and has also written for the Daily Telegraph and the US Star magazine.

He also penned episodes of Water Rats, Stingers, White Collar Blue and wrote for Who Dares Wins and produced the shorts Deus ex machina and Revenge, Inc.

His final Fairfax column was published yesterday.

  1. I am in shock….I read his column yesterday and it made me smile..
    This just came through on ABC News, when I turned on the computer (we have had storms)…
    So very sad…such a loss especially for his young daughter.. 🙁
