Ratings: While TEN stockpiles new Modern Family episodes, its repeats are not doing it any favours.

TEN was sorely lacking TBL Families at 7:30 last night.

On Monday the show pulled in 589,000 viewers. Last night Modern Family replays were down to 392,000 and 377,000 -fourth in its timeslot. Meanwhile TEN is stockpiling new episodes presumably for 2016. It had better hope fans are not illegally downloading them or it would be a lose / lose situation.

Seven and Nine were neck and neck once more last night, but Nine fell over the line with The Block‘s 1.03m viewers as the highest rated entertainment show of the night.

Seven News fared best at 6pm winning the news battle with a 60,000 edge over Nine.

ABC’s Gruen was well in front at 8:30 on 897,000 viewers, with Blindspot‘s second week down from 888,000 to 702,000 while Celebrity Apprentice manage its best figure this season of 646,000 viewers. Elsewhere, The Ex-PM also lifted for ABC.

Nine network won with 29.8% then Seven 28.5%, ABC 19.2%, TEN 16.6% and SBS 5.9%.

GO!’s Big Bang was best on multichannels with 287,000.

  1. Watched Planet Terror and Scanners on SBS. A great night. And it looks like it’s going to be SBS for the rest of the week – catch-up on Fargo tonight followed by Full Metal Jacket, Kill Bill or 13 Assassins on Fri, and then True Grit on Sat.

Tarantino, Rodriguez, Kubrick, Cronenberg, the Coen brothers, and more to come next week. After weeks of not much on FTA apart from ABC Wednesdays, I am now being spoilt.

  2. The Ex-Pm is proving quite a mixed bag, quality wise and style wise. Last night’s ep was more slapstick and at times reminded me of Fawlty Towers or the Carry On films; others have been more satiric and wordy. I’m enjoying Nicki Wendt as the former first lady; she’ such a hoot.

    1. I don’t think showing 2 new drama episodes post 8.30pm is lazy programming but all networks need to do better between 7.30pm and 8.30pm. Doesn’t matter whats on tv after 8.30pm, if the tv isn’t on before than (and it often isn’t cause I’m over reality) than anything after 8.30pm is for catch up.

      1. I should have specified the MF repeats. 10 are actually very good at commiting to their dramas but by putting nothing as a lead in they must hurt them further.

  3. Thought the first ep of Blindspot was interesting so sat down to watch ep 2 last night. Won’t be watching it again, I found it boring. The storylines suck to be honest.

  4. I wasn’t doing anything particularly special last night about 8.20ish. Thought for a minute should I turn the tv on and watch madam secretary at 8.30. Decided against it as I knew it wouldn’t start on time so went off and found something non tv related to do.

      1. It may not have had a delayed start time. I don’t know I didn’t bother to check because its the perception these days that things on 7,9 and 10 don’t start on time. Good to know it was an enjoyable ep. Plan to catch up on it.

    1. Even last night ncis rated terribly. They usually fast track but this year they are holding off. I guess we won’t know until next year how the lack of fast tracking will affect those ratings.
