News events dominate Monday

Ratings: Networks continued to amend their Monday programming in response to news from Paris.

News events continue to dominate TV viewing with News specials across the night and Q&A drawing 672,000 viewers for ABC.

Nine also drew good numbers for its cricket broadcast while TEN’s TBL Families has risen to 732,000 viewers.

Nine network won with 29.6% then Seven 28.75, ABC 19.3%, TEN 18.0% and SBS 4.4%.

Nine News (1.11m / 1.01m) topped the night for Nine then Second Test (969,000 / 483,000), The Block (945,000), A Current Affair (861,000) and Nine News Special (450,000).

Seven News (1.06m 1.01m) was best for Seven then The X Factor (958,000), Home and Away (747,000), News: Stand by Paris (621,000), The Chase (603,000 / 376,000) and Big Bang Theory (381,000 / 262,000).

ABC News (860,000), 7:30 (776,000), Australian Story (692,000), Q & A (672,000), Media Watch (633,000) and Four Corners (567,000) comprised ABC’s night.

TBL Families rose to 732,000 for TEN. Have You Been Paying Attention? was 678,000, The Project was 609,000 / 453,000, TEN Eyewitness News was 529,000 and Homeland was 198,000.

On SBS SAS: Who Dares Wins and Dogs: Their Secret Lives were both 205,000 each and SBS World News was 110,000.

Second Test on GEM drew 277,000 as the best on multichannels.

Today: 343,000
ABC News Breakfast: 85,000 / 58,000

  1. Personally i reckon 7 were mad to pay for Big Bang rerun rights, they had already played enough on 9/Go for them to rate very highly now. I occasionally have the 7 reruns on in the background when nothing else i want to watch but then i just get confused & think i’m 9/Go 😉

The Special on Seven didn’t start until 9.27 (EPG said 9.15) – so expect that to be adjusted down, while on Nine, The Block didn’t start until close to 9pm (Sydney) – so its real figures will be lower as well as the first half in most markets will be cricket ratings. Old Big Bangs on Seven almost down to multi channel ratings levels.
