Oops. Seven News raises Dutch flag.

It may have been Red, White and Blue, but that's as good as it got for Seven News.

It may have been Red, White and Blue, but a flag backdrop on Seven News over the weekend was the national flag for The Netherlands, not France.

Memo to Seven: Vertical, not horizontal?

  1. Not the first time Seven have mixed up the Dutch flag – the first TAR Australia had a “find the flags of the countries you visited” final task and gave them Luxembourg’s flag (which has a different shade of blue) instead. This is much worse though.

  2. Oh c’mon… we all know that under new guidelines only “factual” material needs to be accurate. This was clearly done for **dramatic** effect, not facts. 🙁

  3. Don’t know if anyone noticed but this was the first time Mellisa Doyle and Chris Reason were together at the same desk since Sunrise about 14 years ago or so.

  4. Getting such a well-known flag wrong is about par for the commercial networks these days but the bullet hole is just tasteless and insensitive. Someone needs their arse kicked.

  5. Wrong flag, but I would put money on a team of authoritative producers having gone back and forth for hours over the look and dimensions of the bullet hole

  6. The ultimate in tackiness and amateurishness – especially considering the Lindt Cafe is just outside of their window.
How hard is it to get the flag right. Try Google Images. Or did someone really not know that Paris is in France, not in The Netherlands?

  7. They’re really disgusting putting it there like that. Only one way from them to learn from their mistakes and that’s for those with OzTam boxes to change channels.
