Thousands of fans of The Block waited for hours to inspect the former Hotel Saville in South Yarra yesterday, as part of the seasonal Open for Inspection.
The most devoted of fans camped out overnight to be at the front of the queue. On hand were the 5 teams, presenters Scott Cam and Shelley Craft and foremen Keith and Dan.
One visitor was surprised at how the former hotel, once the site of a so called ‘vampire gigolo attack’ had been made over into luxury apartments.
“It was pretty B-grade accommodation – it was very, very basic, not even comfortable carpet. It is incredible, the transformation; it’s hard to believe it’s the same building from the outside.”
Real estate experts said for every 300 people who wandered through, there was only 1 genuine buyer.
The auctions take place on Saturday November 21 ahead of the expected finale on Sunday November 22nd.
