Winners and Losers final season?

Media speculate whether 2016 be the last for Seven gal-pal series.

The future for Winners and Losers is being questioned in the media.

Seven has 13 more episodes of the show in the can for 2016, but is yet to confirm whether it will go back before the cameras.

The Daily Telegraph today speculates this could be the last.

“That wouldn’t be a big surprise, considering two of the show’s stars are trying their luck in Hollywood,” it notes.

“Both Sarah Grace and Melissa Bergland have been spending time in La-La Land since the fifth series wrapped.”

Last week at the Screen Music Awards presenter Virginia Gay also joked that she would be working the foyer for her next job after filming had been completed.

Seven traditionally does not confirm a drama’s future until a season is nearing its conclusion.

A Seven spokeswoman told News Corp it was too early to speculate beyond the next season.

  1. I thought the last episode that aired pretty much tied up any loose ends and signalled a couple of cast departures, I didn’t know there were still some episodes un-aired.

But some cast members may already be preparing for the axe… Virginia “BP” Gay, Sibylla “Origin Energy” Budd and now Denise “Myer Christmas Angel” Scott can be heard doing commercial voice overs every night.

  2. One of my favourite shows, being around the same age and seeing the same issues. But it reminds me of the way rafters ended meaning people kept leaving the show so they keep bringing in other actors. I mean I was so disappointed when Sam left with Corey. That was a nice storyline.

Then Doug, Carla and her sister left, Jenny’s parents have left. They turned Frances into this grumpy serious character where she used to be the funny 1 liner character.

Melissa Bergland said after s5 she was done. I will miss it but its great we have got 5 seasons out of it.

  3. In the last few seasons they seem to spend more on licensing songs than on scripts plus Channel 7 only focuses their advertising on one of the girls (even if she’s hardly in the episode). I’m surprised it’s lasted as long as it has.

  4. It would have been good if the writers were able to pen a final series, there are a few characters I’d like to see back like Bec and Jonathon and Rhys and give it some finality, but if it has already been filmed probably wont get any final resolutions….

  5. I would think so. I still like the show but the storylines are nowhere near as good as the first couple of seasons and I don’t think the way its been scheduled with double eps thrown in here and there and an inconsistent timeslot following reality has helped its cause.
