Doctor Who Christmas Special, “The Husbands of River Song” will air 7:30pm Saturday December 26, fast-tracked from the UK.

No word yet if it will be available on iview earlier for desperate Whovians.

The episode sees Alex Kingston performing as River Song alongside Peter Capaldi for the first time.

“It’s Christmas Day in the future and the Tardis is parked on a snowy village street. Time traveller River Song meets her husband’s new incarnation, in the form of Peter Capaldi, for the first time this Christmas.”

It also features Matt Lucas.

  1. I’d settle for River to show up in the next series, maybe not every week but be a part of it.

Hope they fast track it on iView, even though for me it has a tendency to buffer way to much.

  2. It would have been nice to see River Song join the show as the new companion, but I doubt this will happen. Mind you, when we first met her she said the Doctor she travelled with was a lot older looking than David Tennant …

    1. Though Moffat has ruled it out, I would have liked to seen Osgood travel with him for a while. Even Kate Stewart would be a good choice for companion, a link the past as well.

    2. I thought she just said he was older, not that he looked older. Matt Smith’s doctor was 800 years older when she married him that when she met Tennant in the library. I always assumed that was what she meant.

    3. I would have preferred Rigsy- he would have been a departure from the young pretty actress that we have been getting- and it would have been great seeing Rigsy grow into the role of companion. Alas, it will not be.
