ABC Radio National’s current affairs presenter Patricia Karvelas will anchor a new weekly political and national affairs program on SKY News.

The Melbourne based program is one of several new shows to be unveiled early next year, ahead of the 2016 federal election.

“I look forward to presenting an engaging, no-holds-barred, deep-dive into the world of politics and policy. I’ll be speaking directly to the players involved and the best analysts from around the country to bring you the sharpest view possible, especially during an election year, when scrutiny and analysis is more important than ever,” she said.

Angelos Frangopoulos, CEO, Australian News Channel said: “One of Australia’s most respected journalists, Patricia has been a regular guest commentator on SKY News for many years. I’m delighted to welcome her to our award-winning program line-up for her astute commentary and informed perspectives on the issues affecting news and current affairs in Australia.”

Meanwhile former Northern Territory News Editor Matt Cunningham becomes SKY News’ new Northern Australia correspondent replacing Dan Bourchier who relocated to Canberra.

“I’m excited to be returning to Darwin and joining the SKY News team. Northern Australia is a land of enormous potential and I look forward to covering the stories and meeting the people who make it such a unique part of our country,” he said.

He begins in early January.

  1. Way too many political shows on sky news and not not enough live news , and isn’t it about time sky news had some new sets built for its news . All the shows are done from the same background set ,just looks like they have a shoe string budget cheap and nasty backgrounds.. Look at CBS this morning for inspiration for proper news room sets to broadcast from Australian news room backdrops are so boring .
