Author Thomas Keneally recently visited the set of The Doctor Blake Mysteries with his daughter Meg, a big vote of confidence for the ABC drama.

The visit came about after he sent an email to producer George Adams noting, “I’m impressed with the ease with which historical information is seamlessly, unobtrusively and organically planted in the series.”

Production sources tell TV Tonight, he commented on the spirit of camaraderie on the set and spoke with enthusiasm at the level of detail by Art, Costume and Hair and Make-up Departments.

“It was beyond great to hear a living, literary giant say that,” said producer George Adams.

“When a man who has written 52 novels including my favourite, The Chant of Jimmy Blacksmith and of course Schindler’s Ark is impressed then we couldn’t be more thrilled.”

A fourth series is coming to ABC in the new year.
