At last, an Attenborough documentary in high definition.

The good news about Nine screening The Hunt, narrated by Sir David Attenborough, is that viewers will be able to see a spectacular nature documentary in high definition.

And about time too.

This series aired in the UK in November.

Nature documentaries about hunting and survival usually focus on the kill, the final chapter. But The Hunt illustrates the elusive and rarely seen strategies employed by the hunters to trap and catch their prey.

A successful hunt depends on many skills – speed, stealth, stamina, strength, ingenuity and teamwork. But it’s how these skills are applied that makes the difference between life and death. We see the successes and failings of predators such as Blue Whales, Cheetahs, Frigatebirds, Tigers, even Army Ants, as they fight to survive in the wild.

Follow The Hunt around the globe from the USA, Norway, Madagascar and South Africa to Ethiopia, watching how these highly evolved predators are programmed to strike for a kill and survive another day.

After the actual kill The Hunt rewinds to give us a rare insight into the lead-up, the skills, the tactics, and the undocumented low rate of success when a predator is on the hunt.

Engage with both sides of the absorbing story of life and death in the wild in Sir David Attenborough’s latest television event, The Hunt – a new series from BBC Worldwide telecast for the first time in crystal clear HD.

Wednesday, February 3 on Nine.

Update: Now out of schedule, the first big amendment of the TV year!

  1. I may be mistaken but weren’t DA’s shows repeated on GEM and ONE? Several are in 3D but not on FTA. Personally, I prefer animals to be “warm and cuddly” rather than being ripped apart in the “survival of the fittest”. I know that it happens, I just don’t want to see it in my living room!

    1. I find that a mouse pad propped up against the TV is an effective Watermark remover. I haven’t heard the term “burn-in” since Cathode Ray Tube days.

  2. Hearing Mark Taylor read a promo for this during the cricket the other night was painful. Just run your promos during the bloody ads not halfway through an over Channel 9.
