Australia Day coverage on SKY News begins at 5am and will feature Live crosses from Canberra, Sydney Harbour and reporters around the country.

From 5:00am First Edition anchors Brooke Corte and Kieran Gilbert will broadcast Live from spectacular Barangaroo Reserve on Sydney Harbour, featuring interviews throughout the morning with the 2016 Australian of the Year Award recipients.

At 9:00am SportsNight anchor James Bracey will bring viewers Live coverage of the 27th Australia Day 10k Wheelchair Race as the world’s finest wheelchair athletes race through Sydney’s iconic streets.

Then at 10:00am SKY News will broadcast the Flag Raising and Australian citizenship ceremony Live from Canberra.

At 12:00pm Live from Sydney Harbour comes the Salute to Australia featuring the Navy’s largest ever flagship HMAS Adelaide, a 21 Gun Salute and an aerial flyover of RAAF fast jets.

Peter van Onselen and Kristina Keneally will anchor PVONewsDay from 12:00pm – 4:00pm with live crosses to SKY News reporters around the country as they join Australia Day celebrations in their city. Peter and Kristina will also take a closer look at our national day with special guests including Australia’s Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Social Justice Commissioner Mick Gooda.

From 4:00pm PM Agenda will speak with Australia Day honour recipients and check in on celebrations around the nation.

Reporting Live with Stan Grant at 6:00pm will examine how indigenous Australians feel about the day and then at 7.00pm The Latest with Laura Jayes is the ideal way to make sure you didn’t miss a moment of celebrations nationwide.

At 8:00pm Paul Murray will anchor a special extended edition of Paul Murray Live from Sydney’s Darling Harbour including full coverage of the annual fireworks spectacular. Australia Day Ambassadors and local heroes will join Paul on the program from around the country including Karen Banton, The Bernie Banton Foundation NSW; Father Bob Maguire, The Father Bob Maguire Foundation VIC; Li Cunxin, Queensland Ballet Artistic Director QLD; Superintendent Barry Lewis, South Australia Police and SANFL Umpire SA; local hero Stacy Dunbar WA and Scott Harris from the Beacon Foundation TAS.

Rounding off the Australia Day Live coverage at 10:00pm James Bracey will anchor a special Australia Day line-up of SportsNight with James Bracey.

A-PAC, Australia’s Public Affairs Channel (Channel 648) will feature encore presentations of Australia Day events throughout the day.
