2016 ABC drama Cleverman has been selected for the 2016 Berlin International Film Festival (Berlinale).
It will mark the World Premiere for the 6 part drama next month.
The futuristic drama, starring Iain Glen, Frances O’Connor and Deborah Mailman, is the story of two estranged Indigenous brothers who are forced together to fight for their own survival.
Goalpost Pictures producer Rosemary Blight said, “The Berlinale Special Series is selected by Dieter Kosslick, the festival director. There are six series chosen from around the world and to be one of them is such an honour. It’s nerve-wracking and wonderful at the same time.”
“We are so proud of the Cleverman team,” Screen Australia’s CEO Graeme Mason added. “The inclusion in Berlinale is an incredible coup for the Australian television industry and a tremendous boost for Indigenous storytelling.”
Aussie feature Girl Asleep, plus shorts Kill Your Dinner and The Boyfriend Game have also been selected.
Cleverman will also screen in the US on the Sundance Channel.
