Netflix has confirmed it is reviving Gilmore Girls.

The series ended in 2007 after seven seasons.

Netflix has confirmed 4 x 90 minute episodes with creator Amy Sherman-Palladino as a final season.

Original stars Lauren Graham, Alexis Bledel, Scott Patterson and Kelly Bishop are all returning.

Also returning are Sean Gunn and Keiko Agena.

Amy Sherman-Palladino and Daniel Palladino are executive producers. They are writing and directing all episodes, which as yet have no title.

Last June at the Austin TV Festival, Amy Sherman-Palladino spoke of ending the stories her way.

“It’s always a bummer when you don’t get to end it. I had hoped maybe that there would have been a call, ‘Hey, it’s the last episode, do you want to come back?’ And there wasn’t. But that’s OK, that’s not the way it works in Hollywood where there are rules,” she said.

The series will be produced by Dorothy Parker Drank Here Productions in association with Warner Bros.

  1. No word yet as to whether Sookie (Melissa McCarthy) will play a part on the revival but Mike and Molly is now in it’s final season in the US and I understand filming is almost wrapped up on that show.

Can’t wait for this and hope the first one is release before the end of the TV year (May) but Netflix is yet to announce when they will release them. The rumor was the 4 parts would be set in different seasons, summer, fall, winter and spring. But it’s unknown if this means one ever 3 months or all at once say in September, as is the usual practice for Netflix shows.

  2. It’s been confirmed that each episode will be set in a particular season and each episode is named after the season, i.e. “Winter”, “Spring”, “Summer”, “Fall”. Lauren Graham confirmed that in an interview on TVLine.

  3. Its going to be weird, but great to see where the characters are 9 yrs on.
Also to have Amy Sherman-Palladino put here final imprint on the series is deserved and much anticipated.
And 4×90 min eps to close the story!!! cant wait
