ABC’s Emma Alberici apologised to viewers yesterday after accidentally referring to the notorious Peter Dutton SMS message as a “mad bitch” instead of the “mad witch” term.
“Apologies for my slip of the tongue there,” she told ABC News Breakfast viewers.
Not exactly a hanging offence, Emma! Apology accepted!

I still say the original text contained the B word, but the media are saying it was witch out of politeness. It is common practice to say witch when you really want to use the B word.
The offensively far greater ‘f’ adjective before the witch/bitch part seems to be largely missing from commentary on this amazingly stupid and tactless event.
Yes, agree. In quoting the text don’t know why various media are skipping the f-word, which does add more offensiveness.
I think you’ll find that most women will find being called a mad witch by a man to be pretty sexist and offensive on its own. The ‘f’ word is simply emphasis.
Clearly Paul Kennedy and Emma Alberici were referencing for a morning TV audience. I’ve seen other media note the original text.
