Other TV credits included Stagecoach West, Gunsmoke, Gomer Pyle USMC, The FBI, Cannon, Barnaby Jones, House Calls, Diagnosis Murder, Once Upon a Murder and Murder She Wrote.

He also replaced Larry Hagman as Major Tony Nelson in a telemovie, I Dream of Jeannie… Fifteen Years Later and did not play the title role in the MASH spin-off Trapper John MD (which went to Pernell Roberts).

Film credits included The Glory Guys, Cool Hand Luke, The Goodbye Bird, The Killing Time, Ghosts from the Past and Frozen with Fear.

  1. I liked Trapper John much better than his replacement BJ Hunnicut. BJ was always too cynical and negative whereas Trapper was always positive and a fun sidekick to Hawkeye.
