Here comes David Attenborough in high definition on Nine.

Nine has now rescheduled David Attenborough’s The Hunt, after initially planning it to debut earlier this month.

It begins 7:30pm Wednesday March 2nd, which means Big Bang will be dropping back to 1 new episode per week. Lovely to have in HD (including in northern NSW!).

This series aired in the UK in November.

Nature documentaries about hunting and survival usually focus on the kill, the final chapter. But The Hunt illustrates the elusive and rarely seen strategies employed by the hunters to trap and catch their prey.

A successful hunt depends on many skills – speed, stealth, stamina, strength, ingenuity and teamwork. But it’s how these skills are applied that makes the difference between life and death. We see the successes and failings of predators such as Blue Whales, Cheetahs, Frigatebirds, Tigers, even Army Ants, as they fight to survive in the wild.

Follow The Hunt around the globe from the USA, Norway, Madagascar and South Africa to Ethiopia, watching how these highly evolved predators are programmed to strike for a kill and survive another day.

After the actual kill The Hunt rewinds to give us a rare insight into the lead-up, the skills, the tactics, and the undocumented low rate of success when a predator is on the hunt.

Engage with both sides of the absorbing story of life and death in the wild in Sir David Attenborough’s latest television event, The Hunt – a new series from BBC Worldwide telecast for the first time in crystal clear HD.

  1. Still baffles me that an Australian network can’t keep to an announced airdate just a week or so away whilst this week NBC have announced exactly what they’re screening on December 7th.

  2. Would that be the Crystal-Clear 4K resolution at 12,000Mb/s of the uncompressed source material or the Crystal-Clear 1080i resolution at 5Mb/s of 9HD? Obviously some Crystals are Clearer than others. I’ll wait for the Blu-Ray release.
