Dannii Minogue has announced she is not returning to The X Factor, after judging across three seasons including coaching Dami Im to a win.

“I’ve decided it’s time to have a break from X Factor Australia. I’ve loved mentoring on XF for 7 years in UK & Oz…” she said on Twitter, “..new & exciting projects #2016”

Minogue’s association with judging Seven talent shows stems back to 2007 when she was first cast on Australia’s Got Talent -a move that undoubtedly led to her judging The X Factor UK alongside Simon Cowell.

Seven Director of Programming recently said the show would undergo changes for 2016.

“Last year we wanted the show to have done better,” he said/

“We have looked at a number of aspects which we think we can tweak to get an improved performance from the show.”

Host Luke Jacobz is also not expected to return after a 2015 tweet, “That time I drove into work and realised its my last @xfactor_au GRAND-FINAL!! #lastshow #6series #pumped”

In the past judges have indicated they were not returning shortly before the network announced a new line-up.

Meanwhile Danni’s famous sister Kylie has confirmed her engagement to British actor Joshua Sasse.

  1. Australian judges are boring, if the best we have had on these shows in the past is Kate Ceberano and Delta Goodrem, we’re definitely better off looking internationally.

  2. I like Danni, but think its time for her to go as she has not her heart in X-Factor for a while, and it has shown in her attitude. Agree that Tina Arena would be great, together with Guy Sebastian, I also think an international person would be good, but not sure about the fourth person but it should be another Australian.

  3. I like Dannii but she lost me a little bit in this role in that season where all of her acts were eliminated and she was only left with her wildcard act Brothers 3. She basically was negative for the rest of the season

  4. I wish these shows would just stick to singing like Australian Idol did (for the most part). There’s too many gimmicks and special effects on stage now. We don’t need categories, we don’t need teams, just good old-fashioned singing (and not oversinging either!). OK, rant done!

    1. Part of the problem is the mid week slot. In the UK its screened on Saturday night which is the same traditional family viewing time Hey Hey It’s Saturday enjoyed here for years.

  5. TXF has not been at its best since the Ronan-Nat-Guy-Mel panel. I loved Dannii on UK x factor and AGT but i dont think she gelled in Australia next to Redfoo and Chris Isaac.

I think a good (and realistic) panel would be Jessica Mauboy, Tina Arena, Keith Urban & Guy Sebastian. I think all Aussie judges without compromising on profile would be a real selling point. Plus a good combination of youth/experience, and local/international success.

In the past Jess has been to young for it but now she is 26 she will atleast be older than her mentee’s if she has the boys or girls category.
