Play School is set to feature diverse families in its My Family, Your Family segment later this year, including an extended family, a blended family, an adopted family, an Indigenous nuclear family and a family with same-sex dads.
It will come 12 years after the show copped headlines for featuring Vicki Harding and partner Jackie Braw, parents of a young Brenna Harding, who later went on to star in Puberty Blues.
Harding has remained a staunch advocate for same-sex parenting, advising youth organisation Wear It Purple.
Executive producer Jan Stradling, told Fairfax, “”The focus of the ‘Through the Windows’ segments is always on the child and the favourite activities they love to do with their families, the emphasis being on spending time together.”
Play School turns 50 later this year.

Oh noes. Won’t somebody think of the children?
But remember, not too much…
