New Zach Galifianakis comedy Baskets has been renewed for a second season.

The series, in which Galifianakis stars as a man abandoning his dream of being a French clown at a French clowning school, broke FX ratings records wth 1.5 million total US viewers in Live+7 and is now the most-watched new scripted comedy series on cable in 2016.

Co-created by Galifianakis, Louis C.K. and Jonathan Krisel, it began airing in Australia on the Comedy Channel last month.

Baskets is bold, brilliant and incredibly funny and we could not be happier with the reception it’s received in its breakout first season,” said Eric Schrier, President of Original Programming at FX Networks and FX Productions. “Baskets brings together three of the most innovative comedic minds working today — Zach, Louis and Jonathan — and we thank them, the rest of the creative team and the entire cast for everything they’ve done for the series.”

  1. It’s actually a pleasantly comical show. I haven’t really laughed out loud but it’s very enjoyable. He is such a pathetic loser, only overshadowed by how much more of a loser his female friend is… It’s well written and beautifully performed from the cast. I’ll welcome a second season no worries.
