Seven extends lead in second ratings week

Ratings: Nine has opened the ratings year with its lowest shares in more than a decade.

Seven’s bumper start to the year continues, extending its lead over Nine in the second week of ratings.

Seven pulled a 32.4% share over Nine’s 25.0% thanks to shows like My Kitchen Rules, Molly and First Dates.

Nine may have had new joy in the breakfast battle, with Today taking the first 2 weeks from Sunrise, but in primetime it is having its worst opening to the ratings year in more than a decade.

Meanwhile the ABC landed ahead of TEN for a second week, with Doc Martin outranking any show Nine or TEN aired all week.

TEN: I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out of Here (Thurs: 721,000), Modern Family (584,000), NCIS (555,000) and The Project (7pm: 544,000).

SBS: Food Safari Fire (302,000), Coasts of Ireland (250,000), 24 Hours in Emergency (244,000) and Great Wall of China: The Hidden Story (237,000).

Seven took all three demos 16-39, 18-49 and 25-54.

Seven won every night of the week except Saturday which fell to Nine. ABC bettered TEN on Sunday, Monday, Friday and Saturday.

Seven ranked first in all five cities.
