Subscription TV executive Peter Hudson, best known for managing TV1, has died.

Mediaweek reports family and friends are mourning his sudden passing this week.

Hudson spent 27 years in television sales and then 13 years in subscription TV management.

During his years in TV sales he spent 10 years as Sydney Sales Manager for Nine and five years as general manager Nine Affiliate Sales.

During his time in subscription television, Hudson managed the TV1 General Entertainment Partnership which was a joint venture of CBS Studios, NBC Universal and Sony Pictures Television, later launching SyFy in Australia.

TV1 local titles included Killing Time, The King and Stupid Stupid Man.

FOXTEL CEO Richard Freudenstein said, “Our deepest condolences to Peter’s family. Peter was a long term friend of Foxtel who contributed a great deal to our industry over the years. ‎His passion and vision for subscription television will always be remembered and respected.”
