No surprises here as CBS confirms the end of its cyber-series with a final 13 episode run.

In not-unexpected news, CBS today has confirmed the upcoming fifth season of Person of Interest will be its last.

Last year the show was given a reduced, 13-episode order for Season 5, while in January executive producer JJ Abrams hinted that the upcoming season would likely be its last.

“We’re extremely excited to be able share this final season with the fans,” creator/executive producer Jonah Nolan and executive producer Greg Plageman said in a statement. “We’re eternally grateful to our amazing cast and crew, as well as our partners at the studio and network. Most of all, we want to thank the show’s fans — the best fans in the world.

“This subversive little paranoia-inducing cyberpunk-thriller is for you and would not have been possible without your support. As life has come to imitate Person of Interest, it’s been our great privilege to work on the show for the past five seasons. We can’t wait for you to experience this thrilling and final chapter.”

“My guess is it is the final season,” Abrams told journalists earlier this year. “The only heartbreak there is how much good story there was to come if it were to have continued.”

The series has aired in Australia on Nine.

  1. While I am disappointed that this is the final season and that CBS has delayed it for a while, I think it is a good way to end the storyline and the climax that has been built up. 9million viewers in US is not bad though….wouldn’t have thought that warranted cancelling

  2. Season 5 is a pretty good run for a JJ Abrams show, which brings me to a long held opinion regarding American shows especially ones plainly designed for a long run and that is that the fan should always come first. Fairly often no proper closure is offered after 3 or 4 years of dedicated viewing it’s just left to the viewer to fill in the hypotheticals.
