Foxtel has announced three beIN SPORTS High Definition channels available to Foxtel sports subscribers at no extra cost to sports subscribers, including all 51 games of the UEFA EURO 2016 tournament Live and in HD.

Those who are both Foxtel and beIN SPORTS subscribers, will now be able to ditch their beIN SPORTS fees.

The move follows concerns that Foxtel had lost the English Premier League to Optus.

Foxtel will launch three HD beIN SPORTS channels (beIN SPORTS 1, 2 and 3) on Sunday May 15,
2016 ahead of the 2016 UEFA Europa League Final on Thursday May 19 and the 2016 UEFA
Champions League Final on Sunday May 29, which will both screen Live.

It will also include the UEFA Champions League, UEFA Europa League, La Liga, Serie A, Ligue 1 and Bundesliga.

South American football including the South American FIFA World Cup Qualifiers, Brazilian Serie A and Sao Paulo Championship are also featured plus European Rugby Union with the European Rugby Champions Cup, and the Six Nations tournament Live and in HD as well as selected games from The Wallabies and All Black Spring Tour in November, featuring games against Wales, Scotland and Ireland Live and in HD.

Richard Freudenstein, outgoing Foxtel Chief Executive said: “The addition of these new dedicated
sports channels from our partners at beIN SPORTS is a huge win for sports fans who subscribe to
Foxtel, greatly increasing the value of a subscription. The channels will be compulsory viewing for
fans of international football and rugby and complement the already great line-up of sports channels
on Foxtel. There is no doubt Foxtel is the home of Live sport in Australia.”

Yousef Al-Obaidly, Deputy CEO of beIN Media Group, said, “The new Australian beIN SPORTS
channels are a key component of our Asia Pacific presence and we are pleased to extend our
relationship with Foxtel to bring these high quality channels in HD to the market leading Foxtel
platform.”

The new channels will replace the existing beIN SPORTS channel on Foxtel, which has been
available as a premium SD buy-through channel since beIN acquired Setanta Sports Australia in
2014.

  1. Our side plays in the English Championship and was on Foxtel Sport’s until lost to Bein,to see it back on HD now is more important than the EPL

  2. Good move by Foxtel but EPL is more important in our household so will wait to see what Optus charges before considering whether or not to keep Foxtel next year ..Foxtel had to do a deal Otherwise there would be no soccer on fox sports it was ridiculous to charge fans an extra $150 a year to have Bein sport when your already paying for the top sport package it should be included .

    1. I’ve now removed that…. but here was the original line: “The new sports channels^ will also be available to stream via Foxtel Go and Foxtel Play, giving sports subscribers the flexibility to enjoy the service anytime, anywhere.” ^SD channels only…… releases are often over-written.

  3. Fantastic news as we about to cancel Bein due to the poor picture quality, we are happy to watch EPL game on SBS & highlights show, but don’t count out Bein showing EPL just yet…

    1. There will only be one EPL game per week on SBS and no highlights show the rest you have to connect to Optus .optus will have every game and tones of highlights and preview shows.

  4. Foxtel had to do something and these are a good get, including the return of league previously lost, however, the jewel in the crown is still missing. I would trade all of the above for to be able to watch EPL matches live again.

Am also interested to see how this might affect what’s currently available thru Fetch.

    1. Oh, and if thats the case, get Optus in some capacity. Personally, I’ve been after somewhere I can watch other quality European Leagues for a reasonable price for years. Adding BeIN to the package at no extra cost is very suitable.

  5. About time Foxtel added beIN to the Sports pack. It was ridiculous them having it as an expensive add-on. It’ll be interesting to see the scheduling of the 3 channels given I didn’t think they had enough programming for the one channel.

  6. Foxtel really had no choice but to sign this deal. In retrospect, it was an obvious move.

It’s great news… Although I’d personally still prefer the EPL.
