This week on Inside Story is “Birds of a Feather” profiling two twins who think, walk and talk together and operate Twinnies’ Pelican and Seabird Rescue.

This episode will air in states without NRL on Nine.

Bridgette and Paula Powers were born just minutes apart. And for last 42 years they have been inseparable. The connection between them is truly uncanny, which is probably where the great love of their lives began, too.

From a young age, both Bridget and Paula have had an all-consuming passion for wildlife. And, as they grew older, that love became more intense. They started out as protégés of Steve Irwin, and that experience has developed into a full-time career, caring for sick injured birds at their own wildlife charity: the Twinnies’ Pelican and Seabird Rescue.

The Powers family have always assumed Bridgette and Paula were identical twins. After all, they are the only ones who can tell them apart. But there has never been any scientific study, no genetic proof. Now that is about to change as Inside Story discovers just how similar, or in fact how different, the amazing Twinnies really are.

7:30pm Thursday March 10 on Nine (check local guides).

  1. The twinnes are some of the quirkiest and loveliest people I have met through work, so much passion for the environment and bird life which largely goes unnoticed – glad to see them getting some recognition of their hard work.
