NCIS has been renewed for two more season, keeping the series on air through until 2018.

“It’s extraordinary that in its 13th season and with over 300 episodes to its credit, NCIS continues to excel at such a high level on a global scale,” CBS Entertainment president Glenn Geller said in a statement.

“It is testimony to an amazing cast, led on and off the screen by the exceptional Mark Harmon, for skillfully bringing this universally appealing team of heroes to life; and to Gary Glasberg and his writers for crafting compelling stories that feature NCIS’ signature blend of mystery, quirk, drama and comedy every single week.”

The news comes as the series prepares to farewell Michael Weatherly, who has been with the show since the start.

The double season renewal comes after CBS concluded long-running procedural CSI.

In Australia the NCIS franchise it still important to TEN with two of the three brands still regarded as important schedule content.

  1. Gee NCIS started really late tonight. Around 25 minutes based on the start time the fetch series tag set it this morning. Don’t think that’s the way a show ten considers important should be treated.

    1. It started 46+ minutes late on SC TEN because of that stupid “I’m a Celebrity…” nonsense that ran overtime. TEN are now getting as bad as Nine and Seven with this reality tv programming running over time.
Not much point watching Ten anymore… I had already given up on Seven and Nine a couple of years back due to the disregard of the advertised schedule and loss of ability to use a clock anymore. Dum Dums.

  2. Here is Channel 10 sprouting about NCIS and yet they never start them on time. Its a show that could be on at 7.30pm…yes?? They didn’t even bother to air them when the States started up and now they are only getting the usual repeat ratings. They run over time with the stupid previous show and they still haven’t got New Orleans on their agenda. Its going to be hard again from next season after Michael Weatherly leaves as he’s an all time favourite like Cote was.

  3. I would debate Channel Ten considering NCIS and NCISLA as important scheduled content, as it has continually started late after I’m a celeb and it did not fast track this season’s episodes as it did with the previous season.

    1. NCIS (No Cancellation In Sight) is Ten’s top rating drama at the moment, though it skews older. It rated 555 + 133k (16/2). Staggering it like that means people can flick over after MKR and watch the last 3/4. Not fast tracking it means they don’t want to waste eps over summer but are keeping them for when it will get a larger audience.

NCIS LA fills a 9:45pm slot after NCIS and it doing about as well as most of their late night dramas. NCIS: NOLA hasn’t done well.
