TEN picks up NZ drama Hillary

TEN has reportedly picked up the broadcast rights to Hillary, a 6 part New Zealand miniseries on the life of Everest climber, Sir Edmund Hillary.

Andrew Munro stars in the title role in the TVNZ drama written by Tom Scott, author of a Hillary biography.

Also appearing are Dean O’Gorman, Amy Usherwood, Alison Bruce, Stephen Lovatt, Joel Tobeck, Jared Turner, Ryan O’Kane, Peter Daube, Mick Rose and Darren Young.

Shooting on the series from Great Southern Television is underway, across New Zealand and Nepal.

Under current regulation, Hillary would also attract local content drama points, which will come in handy given its only local drama on air is Neighbours.

No airdate has been announced.
