The Passion airs Live in US

America’s newest Live TV musical The Passion , a modern dramatisation to the final hours of Jesus Christ’s life has just aired on FOX.

The two-hour special features established hits to complement the drama. Seal, as a modern day Pontius Pilate sings Mad World, while Jesus’ resurrection is set to Katy Perry’s Unconditionally. Who knew?

The music is arranged by exec producer Adam Anders (Glee, Rock of Ages) at nine locations in New Orleans before an audience of more than 25,000 -however it has been noted some numbers were filmed in advance.

The cast also includes Cuban-American singer Jencarlos Canela (Jesus Christ), Chris Daughtry (Judas), Prince Royce (Peter),  Trisha Yearwood (Mary, the mother of Jesus) and Christian singer/songwriter Michael W. Smith as one of Jesus’ disciples. Gospel singer Yolanda Adams kicks off the show with a special performance.

The project has been well received in social media.

Updated: It will premiere in Australia 3pm Good Friday March 25 on Foxtel Arts.

  1. I have to say good on fox for doing something bold like this. We need something like this to happen in Australia instead of more 1990’s movie repeats. Imagine a priscilla queen of the desert show or something like that that. Heck even take from Australian history cause let’s face it the only thing missing from our growing list of history dramas is music. Would be epic
