Wentworth’s Celia Ireland was delighted with her Logie nomination for Most Outstanding Supporting Actress, but not just for what it means for her personally.

It’s the first time in many years that Supporting Actor / Actress casts have been recognised at the Logies.

“It’s my first nomination and I am so pleased they have that new category,” she told TV Tonight.

“Apart from being nominated it’s really important because there are so many ensemble casts. So it’s great to have that delineation, there’s a lot of people doing really great work across the board. So to have it acknowledged is lovely.”

She competes with Emily Barclay (Glitch), Harriet Dyer (Love Child), Jenni Baird (A Place To Call Home) and Rarriwuy Hick (Redfern Now: Promise Me)

Next month she returns as Liz Birdsworth in Wentworth’s fourth season –but she’s giving nothing away on the plot.

“You will have to wait and see!” she smiled.

“All I can say about the series is: expect the unexpected. That’s very cryptic but it’s true

“Season Three was really subterranean with all the psychological stuff, but Season Four is out of the box. It’s like none of the others.”

Wentworth return to SoHo on Tuesday May 10.

  1. I too have always liked Celia’s work, and i normally like your chosen pics, David, but i am not sure about this one. When it showed up on the gallery post, I thought, Celia doesn’t seem to be glad to be there or to be nominated. It’s an odd look. Forgive the impertinent observation, I am usually a positive commenter 🙂

  2. I have repeatedly voted for her as the most underrated personality/performer on television (I think that’s the category or something similar) on the annual TV Tonight survey for the last few years David. Stoked she’s getting some serious recognition finally. She was also always solid in All Saints. On Wentworth, she’s the heart and soul imo!
