Heads up Downton Abbey fans, the last ever episode will air on Monday April 18th at 9pm on Seven.

This is the Christmas special which will air as a 2 hour finale.

But note that there is no episode next week due to the Australian Swimming Championships.

For six seasons we’ve been captivated by the upstairs and downstairs tragedies, scandals and love affairs of Downton Abbey. On Monday, April 18, it’s time to say goodbye to our beloved Crawleys forever with the series final from 9pm. The last ever episode offers all the love and loss, happiness and heartbreak we’ve grown accustomed to as the family and servants prepare to welcome in 1926 with an unforgettable New Year’s Eve.

  1. At least it’s staying in the same timeslot! There’s several other shows which have been bumped to different days and/or times for the final episode.

  2. I don’t mind the wait, it adds momentum, plus there would have been a break in the UK too, as this is the Christmas episode. Glad seven are showing it in it’s two hour block, instead of cutting it in half, as had been done in the past.

      1. Agree it should’ve been fast tracked to begin with. Glad its the last season and its almost finished so its one less show I have to put up with channel 7s scheduling of.

    1. Moving DA to 72 would reduce the revenue it brings in. Not much point in returning it to the main channel and building up an audience with the last season then throwing that away for the Grand Finale. Moving the Swimming to 73 would mean an even larger relative drop in audience. These would also leave Seven with an extra Monday night slot to fill.

Waiting a week is no bid deal. And spoilers aren’t a factor because it aired in Dec. in the UK. and last month in the US.
