Joel Jackson and Peter Allen: Not the Boy Next Door have both been nominated at the prestigious Monte Carlo Television Festival in Monaco.
It is the only Australian production in the running this year.
Jackson faces serious competition, including Oscar winner Mark Rylance, but it is a testament to his talent so early in his career. Earlier this month he won the Logies‘ Most Outstanding Newcomer (male) award.
Peter Allen: Not the Boy Next Door is up for Best Long Fiction Program and contends with Wolf Hall, amongst other titles from Germany, Italy and France.
Previous Aussie nominees have included Top of the Lake, Love Child, Secrets and Lies, ANZAC Girls, The Slap, Lowdown, Laid, Carla Cametti PD and Satisfaction.
US New Zealand production Ash vs Evil Dead is also nominated, including for actress Lucy Lawless.
