Alan Davies is set to return as Jonathan Creek in a new special, marking the show’s 20th anniversary.

“It’s 20 years since the first series. 20 years! It’s unbelievable. I’ll try and drop a few pounds so I’m not fat Creek,” he said.

The series last aired in 2014 when the BBC made a short three-part series introducing Sarah Alexander as Jonathan’s new wife Polly. The character will reportedly be returning alongside Jonathan for the new special.

Noting how long the show has lasted, Davies added: “It’s a tribute to [creator] David Renwick. He obeys all the classic rules of classic television and employs them to his benefit – so the show is perfect television.”

  1. I hope the 20th anniversary special is better than the dreadful 2014 mini-series. That was just awful, bad writing, bad stories, bad acting. Bad everything the old JC was good at. The return of Sarah Alexander is not a very hopeful sign, she was very unimpressive Polly , who was a poor character for the series.

  2. I suppose the poor bugger’s out of work now that Uncle Stephen Fry has tossed in QI (Quite Interesting), but I’ve been a huge fan of Alan Davies’ series Jonathan Creek. Can’t wait Huzzah!
