Married at First Sight lifts for Nine

Ratings: Media may have been too quick to badge Married at First Sight as another Nine "disaster." Neighbours tops multichannels.

Yesterday some media were swift to write off Married at First Sight as Nine’s latest ratings “disaster” at 771,000 against the might of My Kitchen Rules. But they may have been too quick.

Last night the show got a shot in the arm with two new couples and an improved 905,000 viewers. It was the second best entertainment outing last night and has been #2 in the Demos on both nights. If Nine can keep both You’re Back in the Room and Married at First Sight around the 1 million mark it will save face after its Reno Rumble disaster (!).

MKR and Seven Year Switch were both down for Seven, but not enough to dent its lead.

NCIS lifted for TEN but ABC lost ground with Catalyst and Keeping Australia Alive.

ELEVEN’s Neighbours saga returned it to the top of the multichannels with 268,000 / 251,000 for its double episode, its best audience since July.

Seven network won with 31.1% then Nine 25.5%, TEN 20.5%, ABC 16.2% and SBS 6.8%.

My Kitchen Rules was #1 with 1.24m for Seven then Seven News (1.04m / 973,000), Seven Year Switch (772,000), Home and Away (741,000), The Chase (598,000 / 355,000) and Best Bits (368,000).

Nine News (1.02m / 1.00m) was best for Nine then Married at First Sight (905,000), A Current Affair (897,000), Hot Seat (542,000) and Reno Rumble (352,000).

NCIS (619,000) led for TEN. The Project was 598,000 / 425,000, NCIS: LA was 503,000, TEN Eyewitness News was 491,000 then Bondi Rescue and Territory Cops (both 463,000).

ABC News (802,000), 7:30 (599,000), Catalyst (556,000), Keeping Australia Alive (466,000), Foreign Correspondent (336,000) and Antiques Roadshow (313,000) comprised ABC’s night.

On SBS Great Continental Railways was 295,000 then Insight (259,000), Dateline (223,000) and SBS World News (155,0000).

The Morning Show: 154,000 / 112,000
