Good news for ELEVEN with US sitcom New Girl renewed for a sixth season.

The series is now FOX’s longest-running live-action comedy on air, and has held despite having to accommodate star Zooey Deschanel’s pregnancy, with Megan Fox featuring.

FOX entertainment president David Madden said, “Every network comedy should aspire to what (creator) Liz Meriwether is achieving in New Girl, with its bravura dialogue, inventive and witty performances by the talented cast and emotionally engaging storytelling.

“The series is as creatively strong today as it ever was, we want to congratulate New Girl on reaching its milestone 100th episode and we can’t wait for the next subversive and hilarious chapter of these characters’ lives.”

A 22-episode order means New Girl would hit 138 episodes by the end of the seventh season.

Season 5 is currently airing in Australia on ELEVEN.

  1. Even though it has been treated shabbily by FTA TV networks this show has really found its feet with pretty good writing and a really good cast, although not as dark as some other US comedies the show is always engaging and witty. I think Liz Meriwether can be pretty happy with her 7 seasons of work.
