Nine has confirmed it is scrutinising an outburst by sports reporter and former Today executive producer Neil Breen, directed at Daily Telegraph reporter Amy Harris.

Media reports claim a “verbal tirade” at Randwick racetrack left Harris visibly shaken. Breen was a former News Corp editor before joining Today. He resigned after some 12 months amid rumours of cast tensions and temper outbursts.

Neither Harris nor the Telegraph have made a formal complaint to Nine, but Fairfax claims it has been brought to the attention of News Corp Australia executive chairman Michael Miller and Nine CEO Hugh Marks.

Nine has denied launching a full blown investigation into the matter.
