One of Australia’s most influential artists, Peter Garrett was lead singer of Midnight Oil from 1975 to 2002, before entering a career in politics. The process of writing his memoir ‘Big Blue Sky’, published in October 2015, kicked off Garrett’s return to music and was the inspiration for many of the tracks on his new album.
Midnight Oil is renowned worldwide for their fierce independent stance and active support of human rights and environmental protection. More than just a successful rock and roll band, the “Oils” stopped traffic, inflamed passions, inspired fans and broke new ground. Their 13-album career led to an ARIA lifetime achievement award in 2006. Midnight Oil recently announced they will commence an Australian tour and play overseas gigs commencing in early 2017.
