Bravo to replace Four in NZ deal

NZ youth channel to become the first Free to Air Bravo channel anywhere in the world.

NZ broadcaster MediaWorks has announced a joint venture with NBC Universal to replace Four with Bravo, the first time anywhere in the world the channel will be available as Free to Air.

Australia’s Matchbox Pictures will produce The Real Housewives of Auckland for the new channel, which will include US lifestyle titles Million Dollar Listing, Top Chef, Vanderpump Rules, Flipping Out, Southern Charm, Shahs of Sunset, Made in Chelsea, Tour Group, Below Deck: Mediterranean, Après Ski, The Real Housewives of Potomac and The Real Housewives of Dallas.

Four’s target audience has been 18-49-year-olds with US titles such as American Ninja Warrior, The Biggest Loser, Face Off, Grimm, Futurama, Glee, How I Met Your Mother, New Girl and local titles Sticky TV, The Xtra Factor, The GC and bro’Town.

  1. Mediaworks/TV3 has always has trouble sustaining Four, as witnessed by its rebranding/repositioning over the years as TV4, C4 music channel etc. Maybe this will work better for them.
