Australia has qualified for the Eurovision Song Contest 2016 after Dami Im wowed Europe with her song Sound of Silence.
Dressed in a glittering Steve Khalil white dress, the former X Factor winner soared with her trademark powerhouse notes and striking presence.
This morning #Eurovision was trending globally, along with #DamiArmy twice.
Dami becomes only the second entry from Australian to compete in the Eurovision Final, following Guy Sebastian in 2015.
“It was such an adrenaline rush to perform on the Eurovision stage tonight,” she said. “I could feel the crowd in the arena behind me and I really gave my performance everything I had. I’m so happy that the voting juries and viewers at home connected with ‘Sound of Silence’ – at the end of the day that’s what I really wanted.
“The support here from fans in Stockholm and everyone back in Australia, especially my Dami Army, has been incredible. I hope I do Australia proud in the Grand Final.”
Following her performance, the bookies have now placed Australia as second-favourite behind Russia. Wooo!

My heart would say Australia but my gut says Ukraine
What about your spleen or left elbow?
That was great! Excuse my ignorance, but does Dami sing the same song in the Final? Is that how it works?
She does.
Dami destroyed it on stage this morning!!! I think it is an over all weak field of songs this year. Belgium were a stand out this morning as well.
I think Dami has an excellent chance to bring it on home for Australia!!
Come Sunday I think the question will be where in Europe will we host it and who will be our hosts?? It is going to be hard to top Petra and Mans, they are owning the hosting duties this year so far, no awkward moments at all!!
Bring on Sunday! #DamiArmy
Pace yourself… gotta get past Russia yet.
Russia, Australia, Belgium top 3 for me!!! I. Can’t. Breathe!!!
Holy cow! She started off nervously… But quickly found her footing. She was phenomenal.
Well done Dami!
