TEN stars attended a Survivor launch, ahead of filming which gets underway next week in Samoa.

Network TEN stars were out in force last night in Sydney for the launch of Australian Survivor.

In attendance at Simmer on the Bay were host Jonathan La Paglia, Carrie Bickmore, Sandra Sully, Natarsha Belling, Ita Buttrose, Sarah Harris, Scott Tweedie, Olivia Hyland, Matt White, Hugh Riminton, Joe Hildebrand.

Jonathan LaPaglia will fly out today ahead of filming beginning next week in Samoa. Contestants, who are about to go into lockdown, were not revealed.

24 contestants, aged from their 20s to their 60s will feature in the series which films for 55 days, much longer than the US production of 39 days.

TEN has also confirmed a prize of $500,000 -twice the loot of MasterChef Australia.

  1. 55 days? What a bizarre decision. Perhaps the workings of cramming in the challenges with a smaller crew (let’s face it, our budget wouldn’t nearly be as much as Probsts’ gang) need more time. Still. Very much looking forward to it.

  2. I was expecting and happy that it’s 500k. It is well above the typical 250k for most of our shows.

    Also to everyone saying “half money, 16 more days”, I would like to remind you that the yanks pay tax on prizes (approx 30%, give or take depending on state of residency) while we do not pay tax on prizes.
