Here’s the second and final part of the annual Red Carpet mayhem, with more tidbits from TV’s frocked-up stars.
A PLACE TO CALL HOMEÂ stars on their character arcs and making the show for Foxtel not Seven:
Jenni Baird: “We can be edgier on Foxtel, we can smoke and be a little bit more adventurous. There’s a bit more nudity.
“(This season her character) gets worse and her life becomes worse. She probably becomes angrier.”
Abby Earl: “I feel like in Season 3 we thought about her marriage, which reflected the times. But in Season 4 we focus on her career. And then the by-product is how her marriage suffers, which is very appropriate for 1954.”
DANIELLE CORMACK on engaging with Wentworth fans:
I’m very aware of the fan base and how enthusiastic they are. I don’t feel I really have to engage back and forth, but it’s wonderful that they love the show. We work very hard on Wentworth so it’s recognised and supported.”
VIRGINIA TRIOLI on presenting ABC News Breakfast after hearing about the death of Prince:
“That was my music and my time. He means a great deal to me, and I found the entire show very hard to do.
“I couldn’t believe it. It was a rough morning for those of us who revered a real genius.”
CHARLIE PICKERING on a possible US Election special this year:
“There could be some election specials, but nothing’s confirmed. The Federal Budget has only just landed so I’m sure the ABC isn’t sure what they can afford right now.
“I’ll be there, so we’ve saved on flights already.
“And there’s another show (coming). We’re making another show, but I can’t say any more than that.”
SONIA KRUGER on The Voice‘s Adam Ladell quest for Live shows:
“I’ve just learned that not all people with Tourette’s swear. Adam –certainly since I’ve been around him- doesn’t swear. He says what he thinks, so he says ‘Delta’s hot’ a lot.
“But who knows what could happen?”
FIRASS DIRANI on the years that have transpired since he was up for New Talent award:
“What’s going on, how do we slow down time? I’ve been trying to figure this thing out. I’ve started meditation. Maybe that will help.”
HUGH SHERIDAN on his upcoming role in House Husbands:
“I’m a music teacher. I can’t tell you too much but he’s a beautiful character who gets caught up in a little bit of drama. It’s sort of worse (than a love triangle), that would be easy but I think they’ve already done that. But he has a very raunchy episode which you’ll find out about in the very first episode. And it may involve bum shots.”
REBECCA MADDERN on joining The Footy Show:
“It’s great for women in AFL. The AFL is made up of 50% of women who sit in the stands every week, so they should be represented. There was a situation where a co-hosting chair was free and they were looking for someone. It just so happened that I was free, and the planets aligned as they say.”
ALEX DIMITRIADIS on selecting discerning projects:
“I’m working on Seven Types of Ambiguity which is shooting in Melbourne. Like the rest of (the projects I’ve done) they seem to attract strong ensemble casts, so it should be fun.”
SCOTT TWEEDIE on hosting The Loop:
“We are three days a week shooting The Loop. We write, program, talk to record labels, produce what’s on air and be the talent. Everything but the editing! I’ve done 4.5 years learning all sides of the production.”
JULIA MORRIS on what’s coming up in House Husbands:
“There’s not a lot of Australian series that kick over to 5 seasons, is there?
“I’m not sure but because I trust implicitly in our new writers and the gang, I figure it will be amazing and I should turn up. Lucky enough to have a job.
“75 years in the business.”
MANDY MCELHINNEY on her next arc in Love Child.
“She’s part of a family for the first time in her life and becomes an uncomfortable grandmother. It’s what she’s always wanted, because she is a mother to the girls.”
LEE LIN CHIN on the rare opportunity of doing news and comedy:
“It came as an unexpected development that the bosses approved the fact that one of their newsreaders is assuming a persona that is totally opposite to the newsreader. But I’m even more grateful that the audiences of both, don’t have a problem with it.”
ESSIE DAVIS on whether there will be more for Miss Fisher:
“We can say we’re working on a feature film draft that will be bigger, better and more amazing than the series. Like James Bond, ‘Never Say Never.’”

I dont watch Miss Fisher’s Murder Mysteries but i find Essie Davis very attractive. Naturally atractive looking quite regal, certainly in that picture at the top. Some of the others look fake. If she is on Game of Thrones than she will be awesome. i hope she gets more work. was very relaxed at the Logies.
Don’t you mean Danielle Cormack and not Carter, David? 😉
My bad!
