Married at First Sight will kick off Nine’s 2017 programming.
Nine CEO Hugh Marks told media gathered at a post-Logies recovery brunch, “I’m looking forward to next year when we get the chance to try a few new things. I’m pleased to announce that off the top of next year we’re going to go with an extended version of Married at First Sight. It’s a great show that’s done great numbers for us this year.
“Next year we’re going to be working with the fantastic people at Shine Endemol to bring that show into an extended, full version. I think it will be a great programme for us to launch the rest of the year.
“You’ll hear some exciting announcements from us as we line up our programming schedule for next year.”

Nine just don’t get it they have a success then they kill it by over saturation when will they wake up that over saturation of a show and or format kills it
They tried something new this year too. However, the most interesting part of Hugh Mark’s speech is that the next season will be made by Shine Endemol. It was brought in house this year, and then out-sourced next year. I wonder what happened during production of this season?
Yes I noticed that too. I think it nods to Fennessy experience in stripping formats, such as MasterChef and Biggest Loser. I’d expect more eps per week next year. Note there is another to play later this year.
Television 101 – if you find a goose that lays a golden egg, force it to lay more frequently, bigger eggs, celebrity eggs, junior eggs… until it dies, then act mildly surprised before desperately searching for another goose that will lay a golden egg.
And Nine have a knack for killing the golden goose fast.
Tell him he’s dreaming.
They don’t get it do they? Part of why it works is because it doesn’t drag on endlessly like The Voice and The Block.
Yet both The Voice and The Block formats work and are massively popular! Go figure?
What a depressing thought. This is the best they have to start a winning year?
