Castle star Nathan Fillion has signed to do more of the US mystery even without co-star Stana Katic.

Katic will depart in the current S8, but Fillion has signed for a potential 9th season, which is awaiting official confirmation.

ABC was expected to make the announcement last week.

Both Katic and Tamala Jones are exiting the series.

ABC recently said in a statement, “Kate Beckett has been a beloved character on our hit series Castle for the past 8 years. We are grateful for Stana Katic’s talent and dedication to the series and we hope to continue our relationship. Tamala Jones has also been an integral part of the series and we are grateful she was a part of Castle.

Castle is currently airing in Australia on Seven.

  1. I would much rather see a new season of Firefly. Do like a Firefly: The Next Generstion type revival on Netflix or Hulu with cameos from the original cast.

  2. I’m not sure how I feel about this. Castle is and always will be one of my all time favorite shows but part of the reason it is is because of Beckett and Caskett. Even this season with Beckett hasn’t felt like Castle without Caskett solving crimes together. If there is a season 9 I will give it a try but part of me is hoping this season will be the last.

  3. I stopped watching this show almost as soon as the sexual tension between the leads was resolved. It’s pointless continuing these kind of shows once that happens, they just get old fast then. It’s had a good run, time to put it away and move on to something else.

  4. ” Both Katic and Tamala Jones are exiting the series.” that’s because they had no choice. If you would write what really happened David. They got the flick and I’m not happy at the way they were treated. I’m going to be boycotting this show and what makes Nathan so special but not Stana?

    1. It’s really not necessary for me to recap every individual piece of news I have already published in every subsequent article. It’s clearly in the Related Stories post and Tagged stories both of which are available at the foot of the article.
