Nine has appointed Ben Gunn as Director of Sales: Digital.

He will oversee sales for digital platforms 9Now, 9News, Wide World of Sports, Honey, Coach, Pickle and travel site Elsewhere, plus the Microsoft products MSN, Skype and Outlook. He will also promote Nine’s advanced programmatic offering using the AppNexus platform.

Michael Stephenson, Nine’s Chief Sales Officer, said, “We have been looking for the best digital sales leader in the market to lead our commercial digital organisation. Ben’s reputation speaks for itself – he is the perfect leader to help drive our digital future.

“As we relaunch and rebrand Ninemsn to become Nine.com.au we are creating a more powerful media network that drives greater synergy between our broadcast and digital assets for consumers and brands. Ben leading digital and Richard Hunwick leading television will be a formidable force in market together.”

  1. Is this the guy we need to harass to have 9 add offline viewing as an option?

If Channel 4 in the UK can let viewers download tv shows on wifi (complete with ads) to watch on their commute or plane or whatever then surely 9/7/10 can.

      1. OK, thanks

On reflection, he’s just the guy selling the ads, not developing the app/platform.

I believe it would help sales though. Offline viewing is still a major piracy driver, and in the UK, sure the downloaded program contains ads, but it’s a lot easier than pirating it (either directly to your phone or using a PC and transferring it). I believe there would be a lot more ads being viewed by commuters if they introduced it.
